I found a trail that lets you walk right up to the shore of the Columbia River (it wasn’t all that hidden, admittedly, I just hadn’t taken that trail before). It was lovely.

Sorry for the unexpected hiatus – work intervened rather significantly in the last week. But I was still walking and I saw something I had not yet seen before! I suspect for a large number of people seeing a snake crossing the path wouldn’t be something that makes them happy, but it was for me. I like snakes. He moved into the shade under a basalt boulder as the day was quite warm. He’s about 3 feet long.

One thing I love about dogwoods compared to cherry trees is that their blooms last a very very long time. I get to enjoy them over and over.

This time the grafted dual-color plant I saw was an azalea. This was in Fairfax, Virginia. Simply lovely.

I have switched up my morning walk before work. I was walking south down the Columbia River. Now I walk north most days. This is the view I have now. Honestly, I don’t know why more people don’t do this, but I really like that I have the whole thing to myself most of the time.
