Scene while walking: March 29, 2013
These guys live less than a mile from me and are usually pretty far from the road. For whatever reason on this day they were interested in coming over for a closer look. To be honest, 2-1 looks a little too interested now that I see the picture…

I often see seagulls on the Columbia River – which is always a little odd because I’m rather far inland (many hours!). One morning there was a huge flock in the middle of campus – a rare sight for me! Like a kid, I had to startle them into flying and then I captured this with my phone camera. I guess the phone camera is why there are shadow birds in the image, but I think it looks cool.

Another morning walk by the Columbia River and another heron sighting. This time he was stretching his wings while fishing from a channel marker. And yes, I know. I really need to go out with a real camera and stop relying on my phone only while I’m out by the Columbia.

During a morning walk by the Columbia River it was so lovely and peaceful I decided to sit on a bench for a bit and just soak it all in. Not too long after, a pheasant strolled by. How I wish I had a better camera at that moment than my phone, but nonetheless I wanted to share it with you. Magical!

On a recent outing I walked by where the goats live. This time one of the adults was willing to pose for a photo. What a sweetie!

This beautiful horse lives about a mile from me and we see each other pretty regularly. We have a nice chat each time, and someday I’ll remember to bring carrots with me.

You may (or may not, I don’t know what you choose to keep in your brain) recall at Christmastime General Principle was dressed up for the holiday. Well, he likes other holidays too – and he also enjoys a nice beverage. He borrowed this hat (made by my mother) and tie from my dad. No lie. Happy St. Paddy’s Day!

Not all the animals I see while I’m out are wildlife or barn animals. In fact I see a lot of dogs but they are usually barking and running and not interested in posing for a photo. This cat was enjoying a sunny spot and watching me carefully. Technically I suppose it could be a barn cat, but it didn’t look like it was into working.
